Dine on a Vanishing Island… The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain offers new boat trips to deserted Jarada Island

With the experiential travel trend continuing to make tracks – and 60% of holidaymakers claiming to value experiences over material possessions* – The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain has launched a selection of exhilarating, water-based excursions for adventurous guests. From dining on a nearby deserted island, accessible for only two hours a day, to discovering hidden enclaves beneath the waves on luxury boat trips, The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain invites travellers to explore the culture-rich Kingdom.

For the ultimate castaway experience, board the resort’s brand new ‘Pearl 1’ boat and sail across turquoise waters to nearby Jarada Island – a deserted strip of land, only accessible for a few hours each day before the tide washes over its sugar-white sand. Upon arrival, explorers are seated on traditional, woven floor-cushions and greeted by a resident Chef, presenting a picnic of authentic Bahraini dishes, drinks and decadent deserts. Diners must feast, photograph and make their memories, before the island disappears under the waves.

The new ‘Pearl 1 Excursions’ allow for uninterrupted exploration of the undiscovered corners of Bahrain, from private dolphin watching trips and city tours by boat, to unique pearl diving experiences – snorkel the oyster beds and partake in the world-famous pearl diving of Bahrain. Once the centre of the world’s pearl trade, those who find a pearl – deemed to be the best in the world – can take it home; a souvenir like no other.

The attractive archipelago of 33 islands entices travellers from around the world with bustling, colourful souks, historic mosques, tranquil beaches and oodles of culture. Back at the Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain, guests can relax with a choice of massage in one of the new cabanas, perched on the resort’s very own private island. The ‘Zen Island’ experience promotes peace and tranquillity with a nutritious lunch of fresh seafood, sizzled meats or zesty Mediterranean delicacies, followed by a menu of tempting treats including a massage, facial or full-body treatment in the enclosed cabana, with only the sounds of the lapping waves for company.

In 2019, the five-star hideaway will also welcome a new Bar de la Plage – serving up a mixology program with equally delicious alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails alongside seasonal specialities and fresh seafood – and the relaunch of two restaurants; Cantina Kahlo, a colourful restaurant bringing the zest of Mexico to Bahrain, will introduce its new Chef de Cuisine – Hector Miguel Mendoza Becerra, while Primavera, a fine-dining Italian with veranda overlooking the Arabian Gulf, will welcome a new rotating menu from recently appointed Chef de Cuisine, Vincenzo Nigro.
