Launching this summer, Domes of Elounda invites guests to savour the tastes of an ancient culture through its outstanding Minoan Cooking classes. These explorations take guests on a delicious journey back in time, where they experience the rich culinary history of this ancient civilisation, which called Crete home more than three thousand years ago.
Minoan cooking utilises large ceramic cooking pots to slow-cook ingredients over a glowing hearth – a scene expertly recreated at Domes of Elounda for their guests. The food, consisting of delectable baked flat breads and spice-infused hearty stews feature chickpeas and lentils to engage each of the guest’s senses, with the added health benefits of all-natural ingredients. The experience is led by internationally renowned anthropologist Jerolyn E. Morrison, who holds a PhD in archaeology and has a passion for Minoan cooking practices and materials, these represent an incredible window into an earlier civilisation.
The island of Crete itself grants visitors access to a wealth of ancient history, culture and unique destinations, ideal for the intrepid historian with an eye for quality service.
